Nicky Deasy
Nicky Deasy is CEO at Alta Corporate Finance, a company that provides professional advice to businesses seeking to expand their reach domestically and abroad. Under Nicky’s leadership, Alta Corporate Finance has a strong track-record of success securing funding from grant agencies, angel investors, banks and non-traditional lenders, with a particular focus on the MedTech sector.
Nicky’s current role also includes Director of Operations at The Yield Lab Europe, and she has extensive expertise in setting up accelerator programs, providing strategic financial and commercial mentoring to high potential early stage companies, company negotiations and investing, and overall fund management. Nicky graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a BBS (Acc & Fin) in 1995. She was top of a faculty of 320 students and came 5th in Ireland in the chartered accountancy exams in 1999. Having previously worked for seven years as Associate Director Corporate Finance, KPMG, and five years as Director of Corporate Finance, EY Galway, Nicky then set up her own corporate finance practice in Galway.
During her career, Nicky has advised on venture rounds totalling hundreds of millions of euros equity capital. She founded the charity Foundation Nepal in 2006, which enables mothers, mostly who are untouchable caste, to move from a situation of long-term extreme poverty and food insecurity, to become economically self-sufficient and able to feed their families, via agriculture, micro business and micro finance. Quality of life is improved via intensive mentoring programs, as well as primary and maternity healthcare for an area with a population of 20,000 people. The charity supports a total of 10,000 women and their dependents to be financially self-sufficient each year and is funded from Ireland on an entirely voluntary basis with no overheads.
